Taking a Full DMV Household Out the Door and Setting It Back Up

A house is a different animal from an apartment. There’s a basement holding a decade of stored boxes, a garage or shed packed with seasonal equipment, a front stoop and an interior staircase, and the heirloom pieces that have to arrive without a scratch. Keeping that whole sprawl under control comes down to one thing: we’re a licensed DMV mover with our own trucks and our own payroll crews, so the people blanketing your china answer for it all the way to the new countertop, and no contractor you’ve never met materializes at noon to take over. I started doing this in 2011 and I still walk these jobs myself.

Included in the Service

  • Wrapping, loading, transport and unloading, worked through one room at a time
  • TVs, art, mirrors and furniture blanket-wrapped and braced for the trip
  • Bed frames and oversized pieces taken apart, then reassembled at the new home
  • Door-jamb guards and floor runners at the origin and destination alike
  • Boxes and furniture carried to whichever room you’ve labeled for them

Running the Day

Your crew chief tours both homes before a single lift and locks in the load order. We fill the truck from the back rooms forward toward the tailgate, which lines the unload up roughly with how you’ll want to tackle the new place. That reverses on arrival: beds go up first, then boxes head to their tagged rooms rather than stacking at the entry. In a storm, we clear and treat the driveway and walks and back the truck in tight so your belongings skip the icy pavement. For a high-rise, the freight elevator is reserved and the building’s certificate of insurance is on file before the date.

Past the Standard House Move

Boxing your cabinets isn’t in the base service unless you add packing, and gas lines and hardwired fixtures stay untouched. We’ll set the washer and dryer in place, but connecting the water and gas at the finish belongs to a licensed technician.

Pricing

Flat pricing starts at $760 for a two-bedroom and $1,080 for a three-bedroom; anything larger gets quoted after a quick walkthrough. Prefer to watch the clock instead of a fixed number? Hourly runs $180/hr for two movers with a two-hour minimum.

What people across Washington say about us

Nathan Z.
Nathan Z. Old Town Alexandria · 3-bed house
★★★★★

Effortless start to finish. Quick-moving and honestly great company throughout the entire day. Hauling a whole household across rowhouse stoop steps, over and over, had me bracing for a punishing afternoon, but they made the ordeal feel like barely any work whatsoever.

Marisol N.
Marisol N. Reston · 2-bed apartment
★★★★★

The figure from the walkthrough was the figure I paid, with no surprises tucked into the small print. A relaxed, friendly group who kept the day pleasant, yet the moment a delicate item appeared they'd downshift and handle it like fine crystal. We arrived at the new place and every piece had come through perfectly clean.

Camille O. Shaw · 4-bed house
★★★★★

They reworked their own schedule to accommodate mine, and despite a punishing job out of a four-bed with a tricky layout, the jokes never stopped flying. Not a single reservation on my end — I'd have them back on the books first thing tomorrow without thinking twice.

Service FAQs

The questions customers tend to ask after booking a job like this

Does your quote cover only the living spaces, or the basement, garage and attic too?
All of it. A whole-home job takes in every living space along with the loaded basement, the garage, the shed and anything tucked into the attic. Each item lands on the list, and at the new place it goes precisely where you direct, not dumped by the front door.
Closing day will have me pulled in ten directions. Who's actually in charge of the crew?
A single crew chief, named to you in advance, runs the whole thing and calls both the load sequence and where everything lands at the destination. You'll have one person to talk to about anything that comes up, never a scattered group with nobody clearly leading.
Our old rowhouse staircase has a sharp turn. Can the big furniture make it around?
Sharp turns are everywhere in the older DC and Alexandria rowhouses. We measure the route, pad the banister and door edges, and break down whatever can't round the corner, rebuilding it up top. On the rare piece that simply won't go, we say so before lifting, not with you stuck halfway up.
How do you keep winter slush off my hardwood?
Before the carrying starts, runners cover the floors and the main walking lane in each home, and the crew scrapes mud and salt off their boots at the door. The grit that destroys a finish never gets the chance to reach it.
