A DMV Move Priced by the Building, Not the Map
Two addresses sitting four blocks apart can cost wildly different mornings here. One is a garden unit with a driveway; the other is a Capitol Hill rowhouse where parking means circling for twenty minutes, then a stoop, then a staircase that turns. The map cannot see any of that, which is why I quote off what your home actually contains and what it takes to get a truck to the door, never off raw distance. Everything you see on move day is ours, the equipment and the people both. My movers are W-2 employees who clock in for me, not strangers staffed out for the morning, so the hands wrapping your headboard in Arlington are the same hands setting it up in Silver Spring.

Stay inside the DMV and the job stays local: the District, the Virginia side through Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church, and the Maryland suburbs around Bethesda, Rockville and Silver Spring. High-rise insurance certificates, condo docks booked by the half hour, garden-complex driveways too tight to turn a 26-footer, none of it throws us, because we run these buildings constantly. Ice on the front steps gets salted and scraped before a dolly ever comes near the threshold.
Standard on Every Job, Whatever the Door Looks Like
- Pads and stretch wrap go onto each piece while it still sits in place, ahead of any lift
- Runners cover the path through both homes; jambs and corners are capped at each end
- Beds, tables and shelving come apart at the old place and go back together at the new one
- Loose hardware is bagged and tagged to its piece so nothing wanders off mid-move
- One binding flat-rate quote in writing, with a numbered inventory standing behind it
Two Ways to Pay
I tell you which makes sense before you sign. The flat structure is $470 for a studio or one-bed, $760 for a two-bed and $1,080 for a three-bed. For a light load or a fast crosstown hop, the hourly rate, $180/hr for two movers with a two-hour minimum, frequently beats the flat number, and I will point you to whichever is cheaper.
A Couple of Honest Caveats
Hourly leaves the kitchen unpacked unless you add a pack-out. And while we will roll the washer into its slot, capping the water and gas line at the end is licensed-technician work, off-limits to the crew.
